Hair Trigger is a configuration of an electronic or mechanical airsoft trigger with extremely short travel and instant response to touch. It is a mode where the firing point is set right at the beginning of the trigger pull, often in combination with minimal pre-travel and over-travel. Hair Trigger mode is very popular in CQB games and in Speedsoft, where fast reaction and single-shot firing make all the difference. In these playstyles, it's an advantage not to have to “press” the trigger fully – a slight tap is enough for the gun to register and fire immediately.

How do pre-travel and over-travel help?

• Pre-travel is usually completely eliminated in Hair Trigger setups – the trigger begins to "engage" right from the first fraction of a millimeter.
• Over-travel is set to the shortest possible overrun, which speeds up trigger reset and enables fast rate of fire in semi-auto mode.

Advantages of Hair Trigger mode:

• Extremely fast trigger response
• Ideal for CQB and Speedsoft
• Capable of very rapid semi-auto fire (requires a strong motor, ideally Brushless type)
• Better control during fast shooting
