Break Point

Trigger Break Point is the moment in the trigger pull when the shot is fired – that is, when the firing mechanism is activated in an airsoft or real firearm. At this stage, the shooter overcomes the resistance of the trigger that holds the piston, hammer, or electronic switch, and the shot is released.

Relation to pre-travel and over-travel:

  • Pre-travel is the trigger movement before the break point. This is the “dead travel” where the trigger moves without firing. On precise or modified triggers (such as with a hair trigger mode), this portion is significantly shortened or completely eliminated.
  • Over-travel is the trigger movement after the break point, meaning after the shot is fired. Shortening this part means faster trigger reset and faster follow-up shots.

Hair Trigger and the break point:

In Hair Trigger mode, the break point is positioned as close to the beginning of the trigger pull as possible, reducing the shot’s reaction time. This modification is popular among CQB and Speedsoft players because it allows instant firing with minimal finger movement.
