mAh (milliampere-hour) is a unit of battery capacity indicating how much electrical current a battery can deliver over a certain period of time. For example, a battery with a capacity of 1200 mAh can theoretically supply a current of 1200 mA (1.2 A) for one hour. In airsoft, the capacity determines how long you can shoot on a single charge.

Higher or lower capacity?
Higher capacity:
- Longer runtime: Play more games or fire more shots on a single charge.
- Suitable for long events: Ideal for MilSim where charging options are limited.
- Fewer charging cycles: Extends the overall lifespan of the battery.
- Larger size and weight: May be an issue for smaller guns or stocks.
- Longer charging time: Requires more time to fully charge.
Lower capacity:
- Compact size: Fits into small stocks, handguards, or pistol conversions.
- Lighter weight: Less strain on the gun.
- Cheaper: Lower cost.
- Shorter runtime: Fewer shots per charge.
- More frequent charging: Increased cycles may shorten battery lifespan.
- Backup: Most players carry a second spare battery.
Other important airsoft battery parameters:
- Cell type: Li-Po (Lithium-Polymer), Li-Ion, LiHV, NiMH – Li-Po is the most common due to its performance-to-weight ratio.
- C (discharge rate): Indicates how quickly the battery can deliver energy. Higher C value = better trigger response and higher RoF.
- Voltage (V): Affects RoF and trigger response speed. Common values: 7.4 V, 11.1 V (Li-Po) and 9.6 V (NiMH).
- Connector: Most commonly T-Dean (Deans) or mini Tamiya – affects current flow and durability.
- Dimensions and shape: Must fit into the gun’s battery compartment (stock, handguard, dust cover).
- Cell quality: Reputable manufacturers (Gens ACE, Titan, Turnigy) offer more stable voltage and longer lifespan.
