Flash hider (also known as a muzzle flash suppressor) is an attachment mounted to the muzzle of a firearm, designed primarily to disperse the flash caused by a gunshot. Its purpose is to reduce the shooter’s visibility in low-light conditions (such as at night or dusk) and to prevent blinding the shooter with the flash.

How does a flash hider work?
When a shot is fired, hot gases exit the muzzle under high pressure, causing a visible flash. A flash hider redirects these gases sideways or disperses them to prevent a bright flame from forming in front of the muzzle. This helps conceal the shooter’s position.

Use in airsoft
In airsoft, a flash hider usually serves a design and practical purpose—it protects the muzzle threads or enhances the realistic look of the replica. Some airsoft flash hiders are also designed to act as mounts for quick-detach suppressors (QD system).
